Spirit thew his head up as he galloped threw the plains. His herd galloping behind him. He stopped at the hill over his land. The egale flew over and screamed? Spirit nusled Rain and looked at his mother.

' hello " she nickered back , " what's the eagle looking " just then a wolf jumped out of the woods and bit esperanza on the neck and then ran off

Spirit caught up with the wolf and esaly killed it. He ran back hoping his mother was ok.

esperanza lay there with a gash in her neck , AS SHE WATCHED HER SON APPROACH HEr , breathing heavily she was releaved herself of worrying about her so

Rain galloped back, Dripping moss hung from her mounth, she gently layed it over Esperanza's gash.

Rain nodded. Then turned to Spirit her eyes looked dispressed. Then she walked off.

Frost had smelled blood. He had no idea if it was from his heard or not but he ran to help. "Oh,Hello Spirit! What is wrong?"

Baby Spirit ran over to where all the herd was and looked at the mother horse "Is she ok " Baby spirt asked with a tear in her eye
